Contest: Find What’s Missing

serpentIn my last post, I advocated eliminating extraneous words from written materials. Making sure that every word serves a useful purpose shows respect for the reader’s time.

On the other hand, failing to include words that really need to be there can create strange images and puzzle readers. This week’s contest is to find what’s missing from the sentence below:

I hung my coat on the pegs that line one wall.
